The Power of Connection

On Saturday June 30th, we had a ceremony to return Kate’s body to the land. The prayer flags that friends and family created for her in Mount Shasta, Vermont, and along the way are now waving in the wind between the trees on a sweet lake north of Montreal.

Being outside – barefoot on the cedar needles – as we honored Kate’s physical life was quite beautiful. When I asked Kate in the fall when her spiritual journey began, she remembered sitting on the large rock at the bay on Lac Ouiment for hours and hours when she was barely 8 years old. She shared how connected she felt, an inner knowing that there was more beyond what she could see.

The remains of the vessel that housed her spirit are now merged with this land – the trees, dirt, water, air. May we all feel our interconnectedness with nature, and meet in this oneness that is Life itself. When we experience connection, there is nothing else.
