A young optimist’s “AHA” moment
Have you ever felt completely discouraged? Feeling like a failure at something that you had been confident you could achieve? What did you do in that moment? How did you respond?
This video is a priceless lesson in optimism. Watch for the boy’s AHA moment:
One of the things this one minute story shows us is how expanding our perception can shift frustration into optimism. His dreams could be shattered; he could run home crying; he could give up baseball forever. But instead, he is open to looking through the eyes of optimism, to seeing things differently than he may have expected. After his third strike, we witness his internal searching. He has certainty that there is a gift in the unexpected because somehow he still believes he is amazing.
Okay, this is my own interpretation of his experience. But the lesson is beautiful to me: be open. This openness allows us to be creative, to have new AHA moments of awareness. It is the gift of things turning out differently than we hope or expect.
How have you experienced life through the eyes of an optimist? I’d like to hear your stories.
