An optimistic funeral?
Not sure if you’ve ever noticed, but the word “fun” just so happens to be in funeral. How on earth did that happen? An oversight or intentional? Is there such a thing as an optimistic funeral? From my experience, I’d have to say YES.

Living & dying with passion
Yesterday, on the first day of November (ironically the “day of the dead” in many traditions), my good friend Guen Gifford died while paragliding in California. Most of us are still in shock, regardless of our spiritual beliefs or general optimism about life.

Two weekends ago, I attended a “Circles of Healing” retreat in Mount Shasta, CA for those whose lives have been somehow touched by cancer or chronic illness. I went with my partner, who has survived cancer more than once, and also held my mom in my heart.
